The patients on 6 Main represent the surgical specialties of general surgery, urology, orthopaedics, reconstructive plastic surgery and ophthalmology. The variety of post-surgical care in a fast-paced environment is one of the many reasons nurses choose to practice on 6 Main. Our nurses learn exceptional skill and expertise in managing the medical as well as the surgical components of care for a complex patient mix. Three 6 Main nurses are also clinical instructors at Georgetown University School of Nursing, and they actively participate with the Unit Educator in providing cutting-edge training for the staff. The commitment to education doesn’t stop there, as there are customized orientation classes for RNs, LPNs, and refresher classes for those re-entering nursing. The challenging and exciting environment on 6 Main is definitely the place for RNs who are independent and flexible and love a fast-paced environment.
