Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a disease involving thinning of the bones over time. With thinning, bones become weak, brittle and more prone to breaking, particularly if you suffer from a fall. Osteoporosis affects both women and men. Learn more about osteoporosis.

The physicians at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital assess bone health and risk for osteoporosis using Bone Densitometry Services. This state of the art technology scans a patient’s bones for possible signs of deterioration caused by osteoporosis; both female and male patients can be scheduled for Bone Densitometry Scan (“Dexa Scan”) through their referring provider.
