Breast Imaging Service
The Betty Lou Ourisman Breast Health Center has the latest screening and diagnostic technology, and physicians with expertise in breast health. In addition to screening procedures, a multitude of advanced diagnostic procedures are available, including cyst aspiration; digital mammography; stereotactic, MRI and ultrasound-guided core breast biopsies; ductal lavage and high-resolution ultrasound; dedicated breast MRI and MRI needle localizations.

Cardiovascular Radiology Service
This service provides computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations of the heart and great vessels in adult patients. Typical services include cardiac calcium scoring, coronary CT angiography, MR cardiac function assessment and MR evaluation of residual myocardial capacity after myocardial infarction. Consultation is available upon request for complex cases.

Computed Tomography (CT) Service
The CT service includes state-of-the-art multidetector helical imaging capabilities for the assessment of a wide range of clinical indications with 2D and 3D reformation capabilities. In addition to routine adult imaging, CT colonography, low-dose pulmonary nodule screening, CT brain perfusion, CT coronary angiography, calcium scoring and CT angiography are available. Low-dose tailored studies of pediatric patients are performed with sedation if necessary. CT fluoroscopy is used for guided biopsies and interventional procedures.

CT Colonography
(Virtual Colonoscopy) Service
The CT colonography service provides 3D imaging of the colon to screen for colon polyps and malignancies. Imaging service is provided both at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Foxhall Square (New Mexico Avenue) locations. Same-day CT colonography is provided in most instances for failed optical colonoscopy.

Interventional Neuroradiology Service
This service provides diagnostic angiography, therapeutic endovascular procedures for the carotid and vertebral arteries, and arteries of the brain and spine. Additionally, minimally invasive procedures for the spine include vertebral body reconstruction and pain procedures.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI ) Service
Diagnostic examinations of the entire body, including the brain, spine, heart, vascular system, abdomen, breast, pelvis and musculoskeletal structures are performed using the most advanced magnetic resonance imaging technologies available. We offer the full range of clinical MRI services available today. Subspecialist interpretation of all examinations is provided. Pediatric and adult patient sedation capabilities are offered.

Musculoskeletal Imaging Service
Provides state-of-the-art musculoskeletal (MSK) services, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound examinations. Procedures performed include biopsies, arthrograms, joint injections and joint aspirations.

Nuclear Medicine Service
This service provides state-of-the-art nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging and nonimaging procedures. Special expertise includes nuclear cardiology, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), and positron emission tomography (PET/CT) imaging, therapy of thyroid diseases to include thyroid cancer and radioimmunotherapy of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Pediatric Radiology Service
This service provides child-friendly imaging, including X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI. Pediatric sedation services are available. A fellowship-trained pediatric radiologist is available for performance and interpretation of studies. Dedicated pediatric technicians are involved in the performance of examinations.

Radiology at Foxhall Square
Services are provided for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations on an outpatient basis. Diagnostic radiology testing is provided using the following modalities: computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, fluoroscopy, dual X-ray absorptometry (DXA), mammography and diagnostic X-ray.

Small Bowel Imaging Service
The small bowel imaging service provides state-of-the-art multidetector and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the small bowel. MR enterography, CT enterography and CT angiography of the small bowel are performed for a wide range of small bowel diseases to include the evaluation of Crohn’s disease, gastrointestinal bleeding and small bowel neoplasms. Pediatric and adult patient services are provided.
