The Department of Anesthesia at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital provides perioperative care in multiple locations throughout the medical center.
Anesthetics are administered in:
- General Operating Rooms (15 rooms)
- Same Day/Ambulatory Surgery (6 rooms)
- Labor and Delivery
- Various satellite locations including the G.I. Endoscopy Suite and Interventional Radiology
Members of the department also provide care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). We are available for pre-operative consultations for all patients seen at the Pre-operative Testing Center.
Our services are available 24 hours per day. Two attending anesthesiologists are on call overnight to provide care for the main operating rooms, Labor and Delivery, pain management, and in-hospital airway emergencies and cardiac arrests.
